The Home For Good campaign was part of Simon Week 2013 (30 September to -6th October). We in the Simon Communities asked everyone to sign a petition, ‘Home for Good’, to prevent cuts to the homeless budget.
Over 11,000 people signed our Home for Good petition. By doing so, they helped ensure that the Government’s homeless budget for 2014 will be maintained at 2013 levels.
Unfortunately, we are still concerned for the future. Continuing cutbacks to funding for health services, education and training, as well as drug and alcohol services, all contribute to the numbers of people becoming homeless, and make it harder for people to move away from homelessness.
We need your continued support in helping to ensure the Government sticks to their commitment to ending long term homelessness by 2016.
You can continue to stand up for people who are homeless by supporting your local Simon Community.
Together we are making a difference – and can continue to do so. We cannot do it without your support. Thank you.
Volunteers are at the heart of all we do in the Simon Community, volunteers are essential to the work we do.
There are many reasons why a person becomes homeless, in Simon we deal with them all.
