Simon Communities of Ireland at the COMHOM Consortium & Capacity Building Meeting in Athens

Simon Communities of Ireland were delighted to participate in the COMHOM Consortium and Capacity Building Meeting, held in Athens from 2-4 December 2025 – an inspiring milestone for the COMHOM project. The three-day event brought together representatives from COMHOM partner organisations and 25 subgrantees for a highly collaborative and engaging exchange.

Interactive Living Lab and Capacity Building sessions formed a central part of the agenda. These sessions focused on core elements of the project, including the development of the Monitoring and Evaluation framework, data collection methodologies, and early design considerations for the COMHOM digital platform. They created space for open dialogue and co-creation, enabling partners and subgrantees to explore shared challenges, exchange perspectives from diverse national contexts, and contribute ideas that will shape the project moving forward.

Participants also took part in two study visits to consortium partner PRAKSIS, visiting both the Community Centre in Athens and the Day Centre in Piraeus. These visits offered first-hand insight into PRAKSIS’s impactful work with people experiencing homelessness, deepening participants’ understanding of operational realities and innovative local practices. The experience reinforced the relevance of COMHOM’s approach and stimulated meaningful discussions on the project’s strategic direction.

Looking ahead, we are particularly excited about 2026, when the project enters its solution co-creation phase. Building on the insights gained during the problem-definition and capacity-building stages, we look forward to collaborating closely with subgrantees and stakeholders to co-design practical and impactful solutions to homelessness service delivery responses.
