Simon Week 2026
Why This Matters
Adults Facing Homelessness Alone Have Been Left Behind
Behind every homelessness statistic is a person.
A person who worked, volunteered, cared for others, paid rent, raised a family and planned for the future.
A person who never imagined homelessness would become part of their story.
Today, thousands of people across Ireland are experiencing homelessness alone.
They are our neighbours.
They are our colleagues.
They are our friends.
They are our loved ones.
People like Francis.
People like Katherine.
People like John.
Single adults are now the largest group experiencing homelessness in Ireland, yet for too long they have been overlooked in housing and homelessness responses.
Through Homeless & Alone. One Big Push., Simon Communities of Ireland is standing with people experiencing homelessness and calling for action that delivers real and lasting change. As Ireland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this is a moment to move from recognition to action.
