Board Director: Finance & Audit Committee
Dublin / Hybrid | Approx. 6–10 hours per quarter
Simon Communities of Ireland is the national body representing the Simon Communities, working to support people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness across Ireland.
We are seeking an experienced finance professional or senior leader with strong financial expertise to join our Voluntary Board of Directors and chair its Finance and Audit Committee.
This is a strategic, voluntary Board oversight role, not an operational finance position. The successful candidate will bring financial insight, sound judgement and constructive challenge to the Board, helping to strengthen the organisation’s financial stewardship, governance and long-term sustainability.
Role Responsibilites:
As a Board Director and Charity Trustee, you will:
- Chair the Finance and Audit Committee.
- Provide strategic financial insight and advice to the Board.
- Support oversight of budgets, management accounts, forecasts, reserves and financial risks.
- Provide challenge and assurance around financial controls, audit and key financial policies.
- Support Board oversight of fundraising income and financial governance.
- Contribute fully to wider Board discussions on strategy, risk and organisational sustainability.
Who We Would Like to Hear From:
We welcome interest from people with suitable experience in areas such as senior financial management, accounting, audit, banking, financial services, risk or assurance.
A professional finance or accounting qualification is desirable, although significant senior financial experience may provide equivalent expertise.
Previous Board or charity-sector experience is helpful but not essential. Familiarity with Charity SORP would be advantageous, but we also welcome candidates with strong transferable experience who are willing to develop their knowledge of the charity sector.
